“That’s the thing about books. They let you travel without moving your feet.”
– Jhumpa Lahiri
We met Thursday, February 22 at Ann's home to discuss a Regency Romance,
The Secret of the India Orchard by Nancy Campbell Allen. Most everyone liked this book - it is clean and fun to read, however it is pretty predictable and sometimes choices are a little absurd. . . . a fun easy read. We some interesting things about India and we talked a lot about India because Jesse Lindstrom attended book club and has just returned from living in India with her family.
In
Secret of the India Orchard, Anthony Blake is wanting to court his best friend's sister, Sophia Elliot. But his best laid plans are put on hold when he is asked to take on a role as an undercover spy for the Crown. A secret document listing the names of the entire network of British spies-including his own-has been stolen. To protect Sophia, Anthony pretends he is a flirtatious playboy and Sophia tries to battle her own feelings for him not realizing he is playing a role to disguise his real purpose in India.
